Giving hard treats to your pet can be risky due to the fear of them swallowing it

Dogs love to chew on hard objects.
There are many benefits that dogs receive from chewing.
It relieves stress, activates the brain and improves concentration.
And also strengthens the jaw muscles.
It increases saliva production, which improves oral health, digestion, and has a teeth-cleaning effect.
Nowadays, safe and high-quality chew treats with carefully chosen ingredients are more accessible,
and a wider range is available.
Dogs love it when given such treats.
However, many owners hesitate to give their dogs hard treats
due to the concern that they might swallow it.

To help your dog chew the treat well and eat safely

“The developer of asobone and the development partner dog,
Ramune gave us many hints and ideas throughout the process of
completing the product”

Ramune was the first dog we welcomed into our home.
He was full of energy and loved to eat and play.
He loved hard chewing gum and achilles, but there were many times when he almost choked on
them.
Thinking about the danger of him eating the whole thing, we though it might be better to avoid
giving him hard treats.

But for a young and powerful dog, living in the city is stressful enough as it is.

We wanted to satisfy his desire to chew as much as possible.

We would hold the treats by hand, but his strong pulling sometimes caused him to accidentally bite
our fingers.

In addition, his drool would stick to our hands, making it very difficult.

We thought, “If only there was a tool that could allow him to enjoy treats safely, without having to
hold them”

If there isn’t one, why not make it on our own?

That’s how the idea for “asobone” was born.

Trial and error in making “asobone”

The first idea that came to mind was a hemispherical shape, similar to a roly-poly toy.

We thought that if the treats could be held in place by the hemisphere, dogs would be able to hold it
with their front paws and eat without the treat touching the floor!

Next, we tried to find a way to secure the treats to the hemisphere so that they would not easily fall out.

It didn’t go as smoothly as we had hoped, and we had to start over again and again, repeating the prototype process.

After 3 years of trial and error, the current form of “asobone” was completed!

The mechanism and design turned out to be quite simple, and we began to see the potential for commercialization.
We hoped it could benefit not only our dog, but many other dogs as well.

However, we did not have the knowledge, so we started from scratch, knowing nothing about the industry.
Nevertheless, as we learned that many dog owners were having trouble with their dogs eating treats, we continued to work hard to commercialize the product with the single-minded determination to bring it to everyone’s hands.

asobu (play) + bone = asobone

asobone was created with the idea of helping dogs enjoy treats safely without swallowing them whole.

After seeing so many dogs use asobone, we noticed how cute they look while eating from it!
We are grateful to everyone who shares photos and videos online of their dogs using asobone.

Some dogs bark at it at first, but quickly learn to eat from it.
Some hold it with their paws, while others don’t use their paws at all.
Some bring asobone to their owners when the treat is gone, or toss it with their mouths to get attention (just like ours!)
Some even take it apart to get the treat, and others love it so much they hide it in their toy box!
Some dogs fall asleep while chewing on it, and others use it as a pillow.

Every dog is unique!

We are amazed by how differently dogs use asobone, and their cute behavior always makes us smile.
Seeing dogs enjoy asobone motivates us every day.

We will keep working to create products that bring happiness to both dogs and their owners.

※Please keep an eye on your dog to avoid damage or accidental swallowing of the asobone.
